The truth behind fairy tales

Sleeping Beauty (Little long, but worth reading.)

Wise men warned the great King that his daughter Talia was in grave danger – there was poison in the palace’s flax. A ban was put on flax but as expected, Talia still ran across a splinter while spinning flax on the flax-spinning wheel. In great despair, the king placed her sleeping (or dead) body on a velvet clothe and left her in the forest.

Some time later, a rich nobleman was hunting in the woods when he ran across the abandoned body of Sleeping Beauty. Far from planting a kiss, the nobleman instead raped her sleeping body, from which resulted a pregnancy. Nine months later, Sleeping Beauty gave birth to two children (and named them Sun and Moon) and the forest fairies took care of them while Sleeping Beauty continued her slumber. Whilst placing the babes to Sleeping Beauty’s breasts, one of the children accidentally mistook her thumb for a nipple and sucked out the poison splinter. Talia awoke from her deep sleep.

Months later, the nobleman decided to return to the woods to have more sex with Sleeping Beauty’s body when to his surprise, he found her awake. The nobleman confesses that he raped her and they again had sex in the barn. The nobleman then returns home to his wife.

The nobleman’s wife found out about the sexual encounter and ordered the children be kidnapped and cooked alive. The cook prepared the fiendish disk and served it to the rich nobleman at his dinner. As the nobleman finished his meal, the wife boldly announced “you are eating what is your own!”. Alas, as it turns out, the cook had a soft heart and instead of killing and cooking the children, he substituted a goat instead. Talia and the children and her rapist new love interest lived happily ever after.

Little Red Riding Hood ( This one was hard, they are many stories.)

A classic fairytale famously open to a host of critical interpretations, Little Red Riding Hood did not start out as a cautionary tale. In early oral versions the heroine was neither devoured by the Big Bad Wolf nor did she rely on the hunter to save her. In the version recorded in France in the 19th century, Red Riding Hood complies to the wolf’s command to remove her clothes and to throw them in the fire one by one but goes on to outwit him proving herself a resourceful trickster.

Perrault’s literary version published in 1697 has Little Red Riding Hood gobbled up by the wolf and saved by the huntsman who cuts the wolf’s belly open. Both Perrault’s Le Petit Chaperon Rouge and the Grimms’ Rotkaeppchen were cautionary tales warning about the dangers of vanity and idleness. Versions that had Red Little Hood taste the flesh and blood of her grandmother were promptly eliminated.

Psychoanalytic critics have delighted in analyzing the meaning of the color red because it traditionally symbolizes much that titillates us; from sin and blood to passion and sexuality it seems to implicate the little girl in the story. However, the little girl whose story was first told around the fire or over a drink did not originally wear red. Ironically, the color red was introduced by Perrault, who like the brothers Grimm, tried to convert a sexually loaded tale into a cautionary tale with a clear moral.

While the color that has been so suggestive to those with over-active imaginations may not be original to the story, the sexuality was always there. Those who first heard of the girl’s exploits learned of a crafty young girl who does not need a man’s help to escape from the wolf and who is not afraid of her own sexuality. A French version, from the late 1800’s, tells of a girl who performs a strip tease for the wolf’s benefit and proceeds to interview the wolf with a detailed string of questions about the wolf’s own body parts.

( I kinda like that one better. ^ )

Cinderella

In the modern Cinderella fairy tale we have the beautiful Cinderella swept off her feet by the prince and her wicked step sisters marrying two lords – with everyone living happily ever after. The fairy tale has its origins way back in the 1st century BC where Strabo’s heroine was actually called Rhodopis, not Cinderella. The story was very similar to the modern one with the exception of the glass slippers and pumpkin coach. But, lurking behind the pretty tale is a more sinister variation by the Grimm brothers: in this version, the nasty step-sisters cut off parts of their own feet in order to fit them into the glass slipper – hoping to fool the prince. The prince is alerted to the trickery by two pigeons who peck out the step sister’s eyes. They end up spending the rest of their lives as blind beggars while Cinderella gets to lounge about in luxury at the prince’s castle.

Hansel and Gretel

In the widely known version of Hansel and Gretel, we hear of two little children who become lost in the forest, eventually finding their way to a gingerbread house which belongs to a wicked witch. The children end up enslaved for a time as the witch prepares them for eating. They figure their way out and throw the witch in a fire and escape. In an earlier French version of this tale (called The Lost Children), instead of a witch we have a devil. Now the wicked old devil is tricked by the children (in much the same way as Hansel and Gretel) but he works it out and puts together a sawhorse to put one of the children on to bleed (that isn’t an error – he really does). The children pretend not to know how to get on the sawhorse so the devil’s wife demonstrates. While she is lying down the kids slash her throat and escape.

Snow White ( Did you know Snow White had blond hair? Not black.)

In the tale of snow white that we are all familiar with, the Queen asks a huntsman to kill her and bring her heart back as proof. Instead, the huntsman can’t bring himself to do it and returns with the heart of a boar. Now, fortunately disney hasn’t done too much damage to this tale, but they did leave out one important original element: in the original tale, the Queen actually asks for Snow White’s liver and lungs – which are to be served for dinner that night! Also in the original, Snow White wakes up when she is jostled by the prince’s horse as he carries her back to his castle – not from a magical kiss. What the prince wanted to do with a dead girl’s body I will leave to your imagination. Oh – in the Grimm version, the tale ends with the Queen being forced to dance to death in red hot iron shoes!

The Little Mermaid :(

The 1989 version of the Little Mermaid might be better known as “The big whopper!” In the Disney version, the film ends with Ariel the mermaid being changed into a human so she can marry Eric. They marry in a wonderful wedding attended by humans and merpeople. But, in the very first version by Hans Christian Andersen, the mermaid sees the Prince marry a princess and she despairs. She is offered a knife with which to stab the prince to death, but rather than do that she jumps into the sea and dies by turning to froth. Hans Christian Andersen modified the ending slightly to make it more pleasant. In his new ending, instead of dying when turned to froth, she becomes a “daughter of the air” waiting to go to heaven – so, frankly, she is still dead for all intents and purposes.

Rapunzel (what a horny girl)

Rapunzel is Persinette in the French version and invites the prince up the tower so she can make love to him. When her pet parrot threatens to tell her secret, she sews up his rear end. Persinette’s nose is turned into an ass nose by the evil fairy but eventually restored to its former beauty.

Rapunzel is Petrosinella in the Italian version. She and the prince do not seek each other for years as in the Grimms story. Instead they escape the ogress and use magic acorns to defeat her.

The enchantress who keeps Rapunzel in the tower was initially a fairy in the Grimms original story. In the French and Italian versions, she is a fairy, a witch or an ogress. In the first version of the Rapunzel story of the Grimms’ Children Stories, Rapunzel wonders why her clothes are getting tight alluding that her daily meetings with the prince in the tower have resulted to pregnancy. This was deemed inappropriate for children and was removed from the later version. Similarly, Rapunzel is referred to as the “wife” of the prince to rule out any suspicion that her twins were born out of wedlock.

Since not too many people read this, and the few of you that do can reap some of the rewards for being faithful followers. lol
My prints will be going for $15-$20. Thats a Color Print, on card stock, of the original work. Signed and numbered.
Originals will vary in price from $50-$100, depending on size.
Once the piece is gone, its GONE! I'll be making 13 or so prints of each, not including prints for myself. So if that aint exclusive enough for you, then I dont know what to do for you.
Try to make it out, Im going to be a few cases of beer, and there will be cupcakes and sammiches for sale. This Cafe is really nice, and serves AWESOME food. So at least come to say hello!

I have been painting a whole bunch, because Ive got myself a little art show going on!

Been tattooing a whole bunch too. Which has had me thinking, maybe its time to open up a new spot. Somethings nice, and small, and suuuper sweet!
I think Ive found the perfect location, I just need to check the zoning and save a shit ton of Feria!
Im thinking neon lights and hard wood floors. Signs on the windows, and the doors, hand painted shit, old school. I want people to walk in and say "Now THIS is a tattoo shop!"
Im tired of seeing dirty ratty old places that dont inspire you. I want this to be a place where the minute you step in, you think about ALL the possibilities!

Rather than complain about how you can't find a guy or how dudes suck, think about this. Find a man who has a job, who owns a vehicle; and that doesn't live with a family member. A man who doesn't live like a dirty frat boy with 20 other pelados, and actually drinks BEER. Once you lower that fairy princess expectation, where some guys gonna do EVERYTHING for YOU, rather than meet someone and work at having somthing awesome together, you might actually have a chance at happiness. And remember, you'd have a better chance being friends with someone you like, rather than just thinking they're ok. Oh and btw, being a bitch never actually works. It's just makes dudes resent you all the more. Lolz (the things I think about on the shitter. Lol)

Something funny I realized today while eating some awesome tacos from some hole in the wall down the street.
Most places outside of Laredo argue that THEIR food is the most "Authentic" Mexican food around. As if having little Mexican ladies in your kitchen wasn't enough. But in Laredo, everything gets stepped up a notch!
"Authentic" regional food. Veracruz, Monterrey, it's super funny. As if we all agreed, "yep, we do mesican!"

This week I turned 33 years old, and many of my friends have outgrown me. As awesome as many of them are, they are finally at the pinnacle of their adult lives. Either having kids, full time jobs working 12 to 14 hour shifts, or just getting high... ALL DAY LONG, which is definately not for me.
Don't get me wrong, all these people are like family, and I don't make friends all that easily. It takes a bit for me to warm up to you with my personal life. Most people I know are awesome aquaintences, and pretty cool drinking buddies. So I guess is what I'm trying to say is that I'm bored. My core group of friends are busy being adults, my younger and a lot more fun friends are all out of town now, and it's hard just trying to meet new people. One person made me realize how jaded and untrusting we all are. I mean, yea, you're a girl, and sure, you're super pretty, but I want to go out for a beer and hang out, not ream you in a bathroom. Everyone is always so suspicious of me. Ha. I guess.
I think this city is burning me out, I need a change.

Got a new cat by the way. Woody. He's cool.

I've never wished to be someone else. I mean, maybe when I was 13 and still not fully myself. Nor was I even really grown into my own personality yet, but still... Ive never had a problem being me.

I'm pretty awesome I think, my inner and outer self image finally linked up after 30 plus years.
I still like a lot of the same stuff that I did growing up, books, music, comics, Star Wars.
I have been tattooing for a few years now, something that I had been wanting to do since I was a pre-teen. A fire bellowing inside me. Never ending, engulfing my life. I am happy.

Even in an ever changing world, and don't get me wrong, change is good, the old saying sticks. "the more things change... The more they stay the same."
A while back I decided I was going to take a break from life, scale back the going out, the drinking, the hangouts with friends, the whole nine. I wanted to see what would happen. Well, friends drifted ad friends often do, many just faded away into new circles, new people or moved to new places.
Some grew up, had or are having kids, giving them just a slight superiority complex. Some got tired of life and some were inspired by it. And through all of this, I'm happy.
The people that stuck around are still some of the most awesome people I know.

The friends I almost never see are always a welcome sight when I see them. The people that drifted off, well; they drifted off for a reason. Just remember to remember.
I'm still happy with myself, even if some aspects of my life aren't the best, they're also not the worst.

Honestly, I have mad love for Laredo, and there are tons of awesome people that I love to death, but Christ! This place is driving me nuts. Everyone wants a deal, everyone wants me to hook it up, and these are people who I don't even know.
I love helping out friends and doing awesome work for them. Some of the best pieces ive done have been on buddies, just because. I hate it when I'm introduced as someones tattoo artist rather than a friend, or when the only reason some of these people call is to get tattooed.

This is the year of no whining. 2010 is the year of working my ass off and traveling. I have so much baggage that im getting rid of this year, shitty people who used to be friends, shitty friends that I have now, that are still really good friends, even if they are shitty. ha
This is the year i shake off all the assumptions that people put on me. I mean seriously, I have so many things said about me, its just time to break free of all the crap.

I sold some prints and at least one original. Which is awesome!! I had to leave a bit early due to sole
Dumb drunken misunderstandings, but all in all it was awesome. Beer, friends, art. It was great.

Now I just wish I could get up and out of Laredo more often. I feel suffocated by this city, but the lack of choices right now is killing me. I'm just going to have to keep my head down and continue to paint and draw and chill untill my time to leave comes.

So the Element Art show is on Dec. 20th, and I have a few pieces ready, But... there is still a lot of painting to do. Just finished this one a bit ago.
But I am in a painting mood, so that should be good.
Should be an awesome night either way, Looks like its going to be the whole Element crew putting out badass art. You can by some originals, or some prints from Jedi, Jason, Laraine, Ethan, Dario and Myself. There's going to be BBQ and Beer, and The Sandworms as well as Murderama are going to be playing. So expect to see me trashed. So come by and buy my shit. Dec 20th from 2 to 9pm at Element tattoo in San Antonio.

So this is somthing pretty interesting. It seems that Laredo has a few Blogs that are pretty cool, having to do with the culture and people of my adopted hometown. Theres one called La Sanbe, the name coming from one of the oldest main streets here "San Bernardo".
And I stumbled across another one called Border Town Blues, which it seems is just starting off. Both pretty cool, very random, but cool.
I found out about this video that was shot here in Laredo by the Cine De Laredo, Pretty awesome. They take some awesome videos, and really great pictures. Talent folks, It comes from everywhere.

From what I understand its a dude from Dallas, and some of the shit he says is pretty on point.
Most of my family has been Texas Natives since before Texas was Texas. I don't have much family from Mexico, or that came from Mexico. A lot of my family had the border jump over them. Which is kind of funny, but it's just the way it's always been, and being a Chicano kid from the streets of Corpus/Robstown/Laredo has shown me all sorts of perspective about cultural masturbation.
Yes, fine, you or your family is from Mexico. No problem, Root for Mexico in the world cup, awesome! But Dont look down on me as some kind of trader for not doing the same thing your doing! I go for USA, my Favorite teams are from Europe, not Club America or the Ryados.
It's sort of living on the edge of a knife. One side I have White America claiming I'm a wetback, so I should fuck off back to my country. (Texas?!) On the other side I have the Mexican Nationals, telling me to fuck off back to America, since I'm just a dumb Pocho.

So I've been trying to figure out a way to do a podcast for the past two days. I think i have very unimportant shit to say... And people should LISTEN!
Yeah, really though, I just need to find a decent mic to record all the dumb shit I have planned. Its basically just going to be nonsense rolled up with some bullshit mixed in with a little cool stuff here and there. See what happens. I hope to get some of my friends to come by every once in awhile and talk about dumb shit. Lets see how it works out.
I started doing small pieces of it on my iPhone voice memo, thinking it was a cheap and easy way to record and upload it. But the audio program I have to put it all together doesn't support MP4s. So I'm fucked. And I'm too lazy to get a converter. But I probably will.
Either way, Look out for my shit soon.

Mad Love

Mad Love is done. We closed our doors today and it feels weird. A part of me is sad because we worked our asses off to make that place awesome. And it was. But another part of me is happy that I am free to do whatever it is I want to do. I am now doing tattoos by appointment only in my private studio.
Thank you guys for everything, Really. A lot of you were there for us when no one else was. It was a good run.
I have a lot of things going on right now, I am doing an awesome Art show in San Antonio at Element Tattoo on Dec 20th. "Tattoo artist who paint" or something along those lines. I have a few pieces I need to work on. Originals and Prints for sale. Free beer and BBQ. seriously, you should try to make it out.
I'm also going to start looking for Guest Spots. If you know anyone who's down to let me work, let me know. This is the year that I get my shit straight, And God knows I need to.

Just wrote and article for the new D'vino magazine that comes out in the Laredo Morning Times. Every first sunday of the month. I'm happy that I can let out a bit of knowledge out to the public.
Here's a rough draft.

TONS of grammatical errors, but you get the point.

It seems tattooing is big business now a days. What was once a lowbrow art form for sailors, bikers, and convicts, is now high end fashion. Everywhere you look, there are t-shirts displaying skulls and roses, eagles, and daggers. T.V. having done its job in mainstreaming this once underground art, has pushed it out so far in the mainstream, that what was once dangerous and unacceptable in the modern public eye is now common and mediocre.
Tattooing has a rich and illustrious history. The Japanese, who have a beautiful tradition of tattooing full body suits, to the Maori, the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand, who would tattoo the face as a marking of your standing in the community.
American tattoo history dates back to the early nineteenth century. Sailors would receive a “memento” of having been in a certain place or time.
In today’s world, tattooing has evolved into something of a right of passage. Almost every 17 year old cant wait for the day they turn 18 so that they can get that one tattoo, marking their passing into adulthood.
I have seen working in tattoo shops for the last 13 years, and have seen some of the most beautiful pieces to ever be laid on skin, and I have also seen some of the worst. As Sailor Jerry, one of Americas forefathers of traditional tattooing has said “It’s the old story, we build up the demand, and the bums cash in on it, and the hell of it is that most people are so aesthetically blind that they don’t know the difference…”
So here are a few things to help you to know the difference between good art, and bad tattoos.
Research.
Its always better to have an idea of what you want to get before walking into a studio. The internet is a powerful tool, and it can help you find ideas. You don’t have to look for a particular design that you want, just something to help the artist along in helping you realize your final piece. I love it when people come in with two or three different print outs, and pick what they like about each. It helps to make a more interesting tattoo.
Keep it simple.
The more complicated your tattoo, the more likely it will look horrible over time. You don’t have to have every milestone in your life represented in your tattoo. A simple rose can have as much meaning as you put into it. The job of a tattoo artist is to give you a clean tattoo that will look as gorgeous from the first day till the last. Some of the best pieces I have ever done are the most simple, colorful tattoos.
Ask questions.
If something is on your mind, speak up. Most artists are more than happy to hear questions you might have. If you think something in the art isn’t right for you, let the artist know, better to have something you love, than something you like. I never mind answering questions, form how all my needles are new and sterile, to just random questions about how I got started. Interesting conversation leads to awesome tattoos.
Look over the portfolios.
This is something I can not stress enough. How do you know if an artist is good at what he does if you don’t see his or her work? I tend to get a lot of price watchers, people who will walk in, ask how much for such and such, and walk out. Always look at portfolios.
Never haggle.
The person tattooing you knows his or her worth as an artist. There are a lot of factors going into tattooing, from the price of inks and needles, to paying rent and licensing. As the old saying goes, “deals are given and not asked for“. Imagine working 10 hours every day, and your boss trying to quibble with you on how much he should pay you per hour. The way I try to make people understand is if you can pay 100+ dollars on a new purse, or a pair of shoes that you lose interest in or just wear away in a couple of months, then investing in your body should be a lot higher on your priority list.
There are probably a million other things that could be brought up, but honestly, this is as simple as it gets. Getting a tattoo isn’t for everybody, but everyone should at least learn a bit more about this honorable, and historical way of art and life.

"I get messages all the time to check out people’s art and tattoos and give them pointers. I don’t have the time to do that, and I’m not very good at it. The thing is... everyone starts at the same place and everyone pretty much wants the same thing. We all want to be good. If you’re doing art at all... there’s a good chance you have some talent. Like I said in a recent e-mail to one of you... Talent is just the starting place. Some have tons of talent, and some have just a little. The problem is, really talented people feel entitled to success, just cause they are talented.
I used to think like that. Now, I know it takes hard work. I’d define “talent” as the ability to see the changes that need to be made to your work, and the drive to make those changes. Everyone with eyes that work, can see if their work looks right or not. Tattoos, paintings, we all can see if it looks like we want it too or not. We all know if it’s good or not. A person with drive will keep at it 'til it looks like they want it to. I’d say the biggest hang up people get stuck on, is spending too much time thinking about a single piece.
Especially in paintings or drawings. They always want to come back to it. they always wanna make their first couple paintings their masterpieces. I say, just paint, draw, whatever. Get em done. Do a hundred paintings. Do a hundred drawings. Don’t do one and then sit for a year or a month, or a week. Get it done, and move on to the next. try and do two in one day. Every piece will teach you something. Whether it comes out good or not. I did my first painting in 2005. It’s 2009 now and I’ve completed around 230 paintings. I’ve botched at least fifty. I don’t count those, I just tear off the canvas, restretch em and start again. Some are shit, some are great, and the rest are just ok.
I look at each painting as a lesson. A lesson in color, light, technique, etc. Each lesson compounding on the last. Each one teaching me something. Every one of them placing me one step closer to my goal. My goal is to be a great artist before I die. That’s not just being able to make paint look like a picture... That means I want to make good art that moves people, that makes people want to do art themselves. I want people to look at my stuff and say, “I wanna do that!” I wanna provide for my family with it. I wanna inspire my kids to make their own way in life with whatever makes em happy. I wanna make people question what they have to contribute to society. We all have something to add.
If I had to define my “secret” to where I’ve gotten to... I’d say it’s my ability to move on. What I mean is, I can sit down and do a painting without stopping and thinking too much about it. I just wanna get it done, sign it, and sell it. Not that it’s about money... It’s about getting it out of me and then getting rid of it so I can do something new. The money is what gives me the freedom to do art. Without money, I would need to get a different job, then I wouldn’t have the time to do art. It has to all work together folks. Giving your art away isn’t more noble or pure than selling it, and keeping it for yourself is just selfish. It’s narcissistic... it’s masturbation. I’d love to give all my art away, to my friends and family, but if I did that, I wouldn’t be able to do art cause I’d be broke and have to work for someone else. So, once a piece is done, I wanna move on to the next. The next one has the potential of being better than the last, because I, hopefully, learned something from it.
I love my work, meaning, I love what I do for work. I worked my ass off doing whatever I could for ten years working for other people. Doing Construction, concrete, roofing, carpentry, digging ditches, painting houses, mowing lawns, doing dishes, bussing tables... Now I do art, and I love it. But I rarely love a single piece. I might like it for a while, but I’m not “in love with it” to the point that I wanna keep it and revel. I am grateful to each piece that it helped pay my bills and taught me something for the next one. The ultimate goal for every artist should be a substantial body of work. Set some goals for yourself, like ten paintings or drawings in ten days. I’ve been doing that since I was a teenager. My first time I was eighteen and did thirty drawings in thirty days. At the end I had my first gallery show. I sold one piece for $110 dollars. So I made $110 for a month’s work. About a hundred and fifty hours. That’s about 73 cents per hour. That’s not quite enough to live on. I’ve painted helmets, go carts, race cars, signs, jet skis, windows, whatever I could to pay the bills. Why??? I was told a professional artist was defined by someone who makes their living with their art. That’s always been my goal. Now I’m there and it’s incredible. I did forty five paintings three years ago in forty five days. Still have a few that haven’t sold, but my return is much better now. I sell most of my art, and for a little more than .73 cents an hour. I’m in debt just like you and don’t have any money in savings.
I have to work everyday to pay my bills, just like you. And just like you, my goal is to make my living doing my own art. It’s the ultimate dream. I don’t wanna win the lottery, or anything. I just wanna make my own way with my art. Why am I telling you all this??? I guess I just wanna share a perspective that might help you move on. Move on past just being good at painting, or drawing, or tattooing. Move past just getting compliments from your friends.
Move past your first painting. I hate when someone shows me a piece and tells me, “This is my first oil painting.” Like they’re waiting for me to go, “OH MY GOD! YOU’RE INCREDIBLE! YOU’RE GIFTED!” Even if your first painting is actually good... It doesn’t really matter does it? Would you want to be remembered for doing one good painting, or for doing a body of work that encompasses a wide range of emotions? In the music world that is called a “One hit wonder” Does anyone really respect one hit wonders? I think you get what I’m trying to say. If you’re one of those people that showed my your first painting??? Don’t take offense. It’s not personal. I’m just saying, no one ever starts to run a marathon and stops after just the first step to show their friends. They don’t turn back and revel in the one foot of distance. Look at what I just did!!! I took a step! Yay me! Come on... finish the race. then look back and be proud of your accomplishment.
When you have your first New York gallery opening, your first book of completed works, your first hundred paintings sold... call me. We’ll celebrate. Last thing... I have role models. I have artists that I admire, artists that I emulate, artists that I look up to and aspire to be like. Of course I want my own style, my own voice, but very few people can do it alone. I have tons of support. friends, family, clients, peers. I paint with people on a regular basis. I have people that intimidate me, and make me feel like I don’t know what I’m doing. That pushes me. I don’t wanna be better than anyone else. I want to be the best artist I can be."

Not quite sure what's changed, but a lot of the tattoos I have been doing have a different look to them. Ive also been slowing down a lot.
Between reading a shit load of TA Magazine and the last SA convention, my tattoo batteries seem to have been rexarged a little. I just want to be able to do better, and for a while I was in such a slump. Doing sub par work, playing it off as decent work. I was settling I think.
I always hear stories on how older tattoo artists have this awesome infinate wisdom. And holy fuck if that ain't the truth!
I had the pleasure of meeting Richard Stell. And he was one of the nicest most chill dudes ever. In the very short time that we talked, he dropped some cool knowledge on my head. I choked of course when he asked me what type of tattoo I generally prefered. I said something about bold outlines, lots of black and bannas masterbating. I know. I'm an idiot.
He did tell me how to simplify my drawing and make things stand the test of time.
Another cool dude I met was Weldon Lewis of Mr. Lucky. Cool star wars nerd. Just like me! He said a bunch of stuff that just made me think that maybe I should ne doing better. Rather than settling. He also told me that I owe it to my clients to push myself and do better tattoos. Wow. Smart dudes.
I also learned a lot from my old friend Jason Pool. He made me realize that I need to start reminding myself that I'm not as bad as I think I am. To build my confidence in my drawing AND my tattooing skills.
So here I am, painting, drawing and tattooing with 110%. All because of a Sunday hanging out with cool ass dudes.

So I'm working on the first Flash set, the red bordered one, and while doing that, I decided for some strange reason to start another halfie set with Randy.
Basically, we just halved the page. So far so good. We have TOTALLY different styles, so this should be pretty cool.

Business has been very strange lately. Its the beginning of summer, and its sooooo slow. No reason, I think we just need to advertise our location. We have the clientele, they just cant find us it seems. Lets hope for the best I guess.

So there seems to be an angel sitting on my shoulder. For as long as I can remember, I have narrowly escaped fates worse than well... death.

So I haven't had gas in my apt. since a little before Christmas time, So that meant no hot showers. Which sucks really bad. My Apartment is old as hell, so it's always cold. So I received three different bills all with different amounts to which I had to pay. I finally paid, put up a new deposit, whatever.
Gas guy comes by, after forever waiting for him, and tells me I have to come outside to check something out. It seems my gas pipe is electrified, an electrical wire somewhere in my apt. is touching my gas line. He cannot connect me.
FUCK.
He also proceeds to tell me how I could have blown up, the whole previous year that I did have gas. What... The... Fuck.
So he gave me the best advice, I should move out. ASAP.
Funny. The way things happen sometimes. I can never have small, subtle changes in my life. Small changes in life that make everything different after thinking about it in perspective. NO... I have to have hurricanes of bullshit rip through my life to change things around. And its usually for the better, But still...

Someone told me recently how my life was ridiculously filled with drama. How I was the worst, and how much of an asshole I am.

Lot of new shit is going on in my life right now.
